Expedited Patent Prosecution is a collaborative program between patent offices designed to streamline their collaboration, allowing all participants to use the results of their patent searches and analysis when prosecuting patent applications.
The program standardizes the requirements that must be presented to applications and, in particular, to claims included in applications.
The development of uniform requirements and uniform procedures applied in each Patent Office makes it possible to increase the efficiency of protected patent rights throughout the world, as well as reduce the workload of experts in these Patent Offices due to the international division of labor.
Parties to Patent Prosecution Fast Track (PPH) agreements agree that if the patent office of one party determines an application to be patentable, the other party's office may apply the fast track process to that application.
That is, the program is based on the recognition of the results of the search and examination of the application by the participating countries using the program on accelerated patent prosecution, which helps reduce the costs of conducting the case, increase the guarantees of protection of the rights of the inventor in other countries, and improve the quality of the search and consideration of the application.
The Russian Federation is an active participant in cooperation within the framework of the accelerated processing program, both in the format of bilateral agreements with China, Spain, Finland, Japan and the USA, and in the Global PPH format.
