Computer programs
Computer programs are “a set of data and commands intended for the operation of computers and other computer devices in order to obtain a certain result, including preparatory materials obtained during the development of a computer program and the audiovisual displays generated by it” (Article 1261 Part IV of the Civil Code of the Russian Federation).
All types of computer programs in any language and in any form, including operating systems and software systems, are protected by copyright, as are literary and artistic works.
To ensure legal protection of a computer program, it can, at the request of the Copyright Holder, be officially registered with the Federal Executive Authority for Intellectual Property.
In order to notify about the existence of an exclusive right to a work, the Copyright Holder may use a copyright protection sign consisting of the Latin letter “©” in a circle, the name or title of the Copyright Holder and the year of first publication of the work.
